Samsung Galaxy Gear S Release Date, Specs: No Confirmed Launch Yet, No Smartphone Needed
The Samsung Galaxy Gear S marks the company's latest intent to dominate the wearable market. What makes it different from other smartwatches is that Samsung advertises it not as a companion to your mobile phone, but something that can actually function on its own, without the need for a smartphone.
In an attempt to avoid being compared to the Apple iWatch, the Samsung Gear S supports it own SIM card and does not rely on a mobile phone in order to function.
The watch was announced last august 28, 2014, and serves as the successor to the equally popular Samsung Gear 2.
According to Tech Radar, Samsung has not officially announced the release of the watch, although a reported leaked document revealed that it will be on "December 1 for under $200".
