'Salem' season 3 air date, plot spoilers: Rock star Marilyn Manson plays Thomas Dinley
A new trailer for "Salem" season 3, which gives fans a 20-second preview of what's to come in this hair-raising series, showed a slew of creepy scenes. Here, Salem's newest villain was introduced as Thomas Dinley who accordingly has a dual role as the town's barber and surgeon.
Thomas, to be played by rock star Marilyn Manson, will be cutting some throats using his barber's scissors as the devil's sidekick.
According to Manson, he will be helping the pint-sized demon (Oliver Bell) as he brings death and slavery to the world — with his barber's knife, of course.
While this may sound simple, according to executive producer Brannon Braga, Dinley will be a combination of Vidal Sasson, Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd. This was amply shown in the trailer as Thomas demonstrated his gruesome behavior when he picked a leech off a dead body before slurping it down with a smile.
According to TVLine, Manson described his character as "somewhere between a really bad hair stylist and someone who cuts people up for fun to see what's in them."
The news outlet also reported that Braga promised his viewers that Season 3 will be "as wild and unpredictable as the first two."
To recap the previous season, Salem's most powerful witch Mary Sibley died because she saved John Alden's life.
In season 3, she might be resurrected so that she can work with Alden again to rescue her son from being the vessel of the devil. But can they still work together? In season 1, she used the Malum to invoke the grand rite, which Alden had opposed. But at the end of season 2, fans saw the two working together.
To resurrect Mary, the Essex witches are expected to pitch in their powers.
"Salem" season 3 is expected to premiere Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 9 p.m. EDT on WGN.
