'Royal Pains' season 8 spoilers 2016: Cast turns musical and teases of unforgettable ending to the series
After eight seasons, "Royal Pains" is bidding the small screen goodbye. Both fans and cast are saddened by the inevitable, but while the countdown for the July 6 finale is on, the cast teases of what fans could expect from the show's last two episodes.
In an exclusive chat with the Entertainment Weekly crew during the ATX Television Festival, the cast and executive producers of "Royal Pains" dished on the goings-on leading up to the series finale. Mark Feuerstein, in particular, teased that his character, Dr. Hank Lawson, would finally make headway in the love department.
Fans of the series know that Dr. Hank is, perhaps, one of TV's most excellent diagnosticians. However, when it comes to matters of the heart, he always ends up empty-handed. With his recent revelation, though, it looks he will have his happy ending.
"What the writers have done so brilliantly in this final season is somehow manage to come full circle and perfectly advance and resolve each character's storyline," Feuerstein explained to EW. "Jeremiah will find some resolve and hopefully love. Hank will find someone — hopefully the love of his life. Evan and Paige will resolve their family issues and they will hopefully find a family."
Meanwhile, Carter Matt noted that the episode prior to the July 6 finale, which is airing on Wednesday, would be musical in nature. More importantly, all necessary loose ends would be tied up come the final episode, particularly those involving the core of the show, the Lawson brothers.
"Theater legend Annette comes to the Hamptons for a wedding and reluctantly enlists Hank's help. Hank tries to reconcile Eddie and Evan, while Paige eagerly awaits pregnancy test results," read the synopsis they provided.
Hopefully, Paige's (Brooke D'Orsay) test turns out positive so she and Evan (Paulo Costanzo) would have something to celebrate, and the finale would be both sad and sweet.
TV Guide went to the set of "Royal Pains" season 8 during the last few days of production, and according to their report, the cast promises a fitting ending for a really great show.
"So many shows really screw the pooch with the last episode, but other shows nail it with the ending, and this one—it's a really wonderful ending," Costanzo told the publication.
"Royal Pains" season 8 airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on USA.
