'Rise of the Tomb Raider' DLC release date news: To have Lara Croft exploring Croft Manor
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be celebrating 20 years of "Tomb Raider" games, and downloadable content (DLC) will be offered that would let Lara roam around the old and dilapidated Croft Manor. The two DLCs released will be called "Blood Ties" and "Lara's Nightmare." Both DLCs will take place in Lara's home, but only the latter will have Lara going head-on against a horde of undead zombies.
According to Game Tyrant, "Blood Ties" will be an expansion on the game's story mode, and it will center on a story with Lara being evicted from the Manor. The trailer also hints that the story will focus on Lara looking into her roots and finding out some secrets that her parents may have kept from her.
Players of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" will find a similar aesthetic with the DLC as Lara walks around a dark, creepy old mansion (Lara must have been living in only one portion of it). The difference is, however, Lara Croft is no Batman.
The next DLC, "Lara's Nightmare," will have a more "Resident Evil" vibe to it as Lara fights to protect her home from the spirits of the undead. An unknown voice in the trailer talks about how the Croft Manor is cursed and how the "spirits of the Underworld" will take over the mansion. Lara the has to shoot and bash her way out of the danger that lurks around Croft Manor.
Players of the old "Tomb Raider" games will remember Croft Manor as the place where players can practice controlling Lara's moves in the obstacle course that she has set up on the grounds. They will also remember Lara's creepy butler following her around with a tray of drinks. Perhaps the new game can make a reference to the butler at some point? Maybe he's the villain this time?
The "Tomb Raider" DLC is said to come out this Oct 11.
