"Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere later this year, according to Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener, new writers added for the new season.

They revealed the good news during their appearance at the "Chicks Who Script" podcast, with Inverse confirming the revelation.

Show creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon announced early this year at the Magic City Comic-Con that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will indeed premiere this year.

However, the lack of updates on the production of the new season had many worrying about delay. Writer Mike Mahan has to step in to assure that things are going smoothly.

He took to Twitter to extinguish the worries of fans, saying "Just relax—it's our best season and worth the wait. Greatness takes time."

This means that whether or not fans will have to wait for "Rick and Morty" season 3 up to this year or the next, they can bet that the quality will be top-notch.

This is what Harmon and Roiland always take into account since the beginning of the hit Adult Swim cartoon. Roiland even said in a Shockya interview that the upcoming season in particular has been "very hard."

"I mean it's just because the expectations and what we've done, looking at what we've done, looking at how it's been received," Roiland said.

"We don't want to have a bad episode that's universally considered oh, that's Rick and Morty's —that may arguably exist already but I don't know," he added.

For "Rick and Morty" season 3, more female writers were also added to the team. Carbiener and Rosbe are just two of these people.

Their addition fulfills the Roiland and Harmon's craving of gender balance in the writing room, one that the latter told Den of Geek is something they "never had."

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to by December. It will have 14 episodes as opposed to 11 the last season had.
