'Resident Evil 3' news: Is a remaster in the works for the classic survival-horror title?
Amid the ongoing buzz for the upcoming "Resident Evil" title, another release from the famed franchise may be already in the can for Capcom with the possibility of a remastered version of "Resident Evil 3."
No major development has come yet to fruition but rumors started when the president of Capcom revealed that they are looking to re-release classic properties under their banners that still have a massive following. Arguably, one of those titles is "Resident Evil 3" alongside its Nemesis downloadable content (DLC) which up until now is still considered as the standard for the horror video genre.
The game, which first came into the scene all the way back in 1999, packs in a treat for fans of the first two titles from the "Resident Evil" franchise. It continued to bring out the perfect nodes of survival and horror themes as well as introduce a brand-new gameplay that apparently became a hit with players. One takes on the protagonist named Jill Valentine as she wanders through a post-apocalyptic-looking city without being killed. Unlike its predecessors, "Resident Evil 3" was built on a more action-oriented schematic that gave adrenaline junkies extra motivation to sift through a larger number of monster creatures to defeat. On top of that, the Nemesis creature makes an appearance from time to time to pursue the player from one area to another until the game finishes.
"Resident Evil 3" was first released as a PlayStation exclusive until it was eventually ported to Dream Cast, Microsoft Windows as well as GameCube Systemes. And now with speculations that the game may actually come back and be compatible with other contemporary consoles. Furthermore, with the technological advancements throughout the past years, the title may actually be a hit on its own bringing back its old players as well as piquing the interest of new ones.
Capcom is no stranger to remastering previous properties, especially with the aforementioned franchise with "Resident Evil 2's" fully-fledged remake already in development. "Resident Evil Remake" and "Resident Evil Zero" meanwhile have some of their own works done for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One. That being said, just because the rumor of a "Resident Evil 3" remaster is already rounding the internet, does not mean that it will be coming anytime soon.
