'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: 'Red Dead Revolver' re-release heralds sequel's arrival?
As the wait for "Red Dead Redemption 2" continues, fans of the Rockstar Games franchise can get by with remastered versions of the previous iterations of the series.
The developer has already made the first "Red Dead Redemption" game available to the Xbox One through the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Program. Now it is time for the PlayStation 4 fans to get into the fun.
"Red Dead Revolver," the first game in the "Red Dead" series released in 2004 for the Xbox and PlayStation 2, has been announced for the Sony console.
The beloved game that started it all will be re-released by Rockstar with updated graphics that will make use of the power of the current-generation console. It comes with a $14.99 price tag.
It is unclear what this means for "Red Dead Redemption 2," but if the wait will be long for the sequel, the re-release of previous "Red Dead" games to the Xbox One and the PS4 will certainly help fans get by the long wait.
Although there are no updates about "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is still believed that it will see the light of day due to the success of the first game.
There is also the fact that Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, which is the parent company of Rockstar, teased that "Red Dead" is a franchise they will nurture and treat as its beast of a franchise that its "Grand Theft Auto."
Zelnick also teased back in May that Rockstar is working on new games that will be revealed "soon." This had many believing "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be launched at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last June, which obviously did not happen.
Media outlets suggest that the release of "Red Dead Revolver" to the PS4 signals the coming of a whole new game from the series.
However, it could also mean that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is still a long ways off and that the remastered versions are designed to make the waiting game easy.
