Fans rejoiced when Rockstar Games confirmed that they were working on a sequel to the hit franchise "Red Dead Redemption." As of now, very little is known about the game, but Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed some details about it just recently.

During an MKM Partners event, Zelnick talked about how now is a good time to bring the franchise back. "The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work... We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched 'Red Dead,' it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America — and that's not meant to be cute," he said.

Though the statement didn't say much about the content of the game, Zelnick also promised that the upcoming title will have a great story and gameplay elements with "emotional depth."

The developers may be right in saying that now is a good time to bring back the franchise, since the cowboy-shoot-em-up genre is slowly finding its way back to the market. 2016 saw several Western movies like the remake of the "Magnificent Seven" starring Denzel Washington and Christ Pratt, as well as the release of HBO's new series "Westworld," which is gaining good ratings from the audiences.

By the looks of the trailer and the different promotional material, "Red Dead Redemption 2" might be focusing on the story of seven different characters. The first game gave attention to the central character, John Marsten. Though Marsten seems to be back in this game, it looks like players get to choose between him and six other allies.

No specific release date has been confirmed for "Red Dead Redemption 2," but it is expected to come out fall next year.
