'Red Dead Redemption 2' news, update: game to be a prequel after all?
After a big reveal of "Red Dead Redemption 2" back in October, Rockstar Games has been fairly silent about the game, leaving fans to get by the downtime.
One of the mysteries that Rockstar left uncovered after unveiling the sequel is the story. They only described it as "an epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland." However, many fans speculate that based on the trailer, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be a prequel rather than a continuation of the story from the first game.
One Reddit user suggests that the clothing and the elements seen in the trailer such as the means of transportation and the items and decorations suggest that it is set in the 1800s as opposed to 1900s.
Additionally, prior to the official unveiling of "Red Dead Redemption 2," there were reports about the game being a prequel.
There are also several media outlets who believe that the upcoming installment is set before the events of the first "Red Dead Redemption" specifically during the time protagonist John Marston was still working with the Dutch gang. As fans of the original know, Marston was no longer connected with the group at the start of the game and was tasked to actually hunt them and turn them over to the government for his family's safety.
That being said, "Red Dead Redemption 2" might look into the times that the Dutch gang was at the top of the hierarchy and were doing what they do best. After all, considering how it all ended in the first game, it is highly unlikely that John Marston could still be the center of the new mission in "Red Dead Redemption 2."
However, there is no official word from Rockstar yet so fans will just have to wait and see. It is unknown at the moment when the developer will reveal more details about the game.
Some speculate that new information should arrive this month although nothing has been confirmed yet.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in fall 2017. It is expected to be available on PC.
