'Red Dead Redemption 2' news, release date: PC version could be out in a few years
A version of "Red Dead Redemption 2" for the personal computer (PC) is something that gamers would definitely want to see. It potentials, given the game's sheer size, have fans asking Rockstar Games for it.
According to analyst Michael Pachter, fans could actually get what they want, but much later after the console versions of "Red Dead Redemption 2" drop.
"They key words here are 'right now.' I remember the announcement for GTA5 was Xbox 360 and PS3 only, when it was first announced in November 2011, I think. And then they waited until June of 2014," Pachter recalled during an interview with GamingBolt.
"So literally two and a half years after the first announcement, and announced that it would be on Xbox One and PS4. And then... several months later, they announced it for PC, which came out in 2015," he explained.
With that said, it will be a long wait, but one that will be worth it. The idea of "Red Dead Redemption" getting a multiplayer counterpart is exciting.
With the success of "Grand Theft Auto 5" and "GTA Online," a PC version for the western shooter will have a lot to offer, beginning with an extra layer to the exploration of the game's rich locales.
Rockstar has already said when they first announced "Red Dead Redemption 2" that the game's "vast and atmospheric world" will offer "brand new online multiplayer experience," which suggests that they plan to take it to PC all along.
Meanwhile, Pachter believes that Rockstar will once again reveal new information about "Red Dead Redemption 2" in the days to come before "Call of Duty Infinite Warfare" releases.
"They want to dominate the headlines. They are brilliant marketers, and they're right," Pachter said of Rockstar, whose announcement of the game eclipsed "Battlefield 1" and the trailer release overshadowed "Titanfall 2."
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released next year.
