'Project Cars' Release Date News: Roster of 65 Vehicles; More Vehicles For Players Who Pre-Order Game or Buy Digital Copy

The Lykan HyperSport car available for free this month in "Project Cars' | BANDAI NAMCO

With "Project Cars" set for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Wednesday, May 6, the list of the 65 vehicles included in the main game has been announced.

Players will get access to more vehicles if they pre-order the game before its release date.

More cars will likewise be provided to people who buy a digital version of the game. There could be other freebies added in the game's DLCs.

As more details about the game were released, it also was announced that one car would be provided for free per month as part of the DLC plan outline. For May, the free car is the W Motors Lykan HyperSport.

The game was supposed to have been launched in November last year, but this was subsequently pushed to March, then April and finally May.

Developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Bandai Namco, the game is a racing simulator which has been generating a lot of enthusiasm among fans who have been waiting for it for years.

However, the roster of 65 cars disappointed some fans who were quick to compare it to the selection offered by Driveclub. Others pointed out that the comparatively short list meant that many great cars were excluded.

The cars on the list have been described as mostly European made with only two Japanese vehicles – the Oreca 03 Nissan and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ400 – featured.

The Hennesse Venom GT which has been featured in many other racing games is also missing.

Last week, the 30 locations and 110 courses available for players to race on were revealed. Many of the racetracks were modeled on real ones, including Germany's Nurburgring.

"Project Cars" will have a Wii U version, but there is no word yet on its release date.
