'Prison Break' season 5 premiere date, spoilers: Series to premiere after 'Bones' ends? Writers talk renewal chances, characters not returning
It's already 2017, but there remains no news pertaining to the premiere date of "Prison Break" season 5. Like fans, the writers are awaiting news, too.
On Twitter, however, they revealed that the limited series is supposed to come into the timeslot of "Bones," which premiered its twelfth and final season last week.
"Bones is in its last season. The original plan was for PB to take over its time slot when it ends," the writers tweeted out in response to an inquiring fan.
A complete schedule of the broadcast of "Bones" season 12 is yet to be revealed so there is no way of knowing when the show will exactly end.
There will only be a dozen episodes in the final season of the series as opposed to the usual 22, so it will be much shorter, which certainly allows for a spring premiere for "Prison Break" season 5.
Either way, it looks like the revival series will get a Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET timeslot should FOX put it in place of "Bones" when the 12-year-old show ends.
As they await details about the "Prison Break" season 5 premiere date, the writers had time to answer a few questions about Michael (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln's (Dominic Purcell) comeback this year.
While they were a bit coy whether a new trailer will be released for "Prison Break" season 5 or not, they did have some answers with regard to the show's production.
They said that "the bulk of the work has been done. Anything happening now is fine tuning. We're just waiting for our time to shine." The writers also reiterated that not everyone from the original will be brought back for "Prison Break" season 5. Gretchen (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) and Mahone (William Fichtner) are just two of the characters that fans will not see in the revival.
"With only 9 [episodes], there just wasn't time to give each character a great story, and we don't want to bring anyone back without a great story," the writers said.
It is unclear if this could change should "Prison Break" season 5 will be followed up with a new season altogether. When asked about this, here is what the writers advised:
"It is absolutely possible, so everybody has to watch on a legal service! Tell your friends to watch legally! Torrents don't help our ratings."
