'Prison Break' season 5 air date and rumors: Will Sara die in the upcoming season?

"Prison Break" ended back in 2009 with its fourth season, but after years of waiting, fans are getting a fifth season of the hit show this coming 2017. Rumors suggest that it may see the death of Dr. Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies).

Fans speculate that Sara will find herself dead as she tries to help the team get Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) out of prison. The two have had romantic tension in the past, but since reports are saying that she will die, it's highly unlikely that Sara and Michael will get back together again.

The upcoming season is said to only have 9 episodes, much to the dismay of the fans.

Miller himself has commented on getting more episodes in the show, and he says to Digital Spy, "There's always room for more, in my mind. As long as it's a story that's worth telling, as long as it feels justified and cool and edgy... It has to be something that's not going to let the fans down, that's going to satisfy and surprise. I'm open to the conversation."

There is even news that the show may be getting a sixth season, but that will depend on reception of the upcoming season five. "Prison Break" actually has a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb and is even listed as #218 of the top television shows. With the involvement of series creator Paul Scheuring and the rest of the original cast, "Prison Break" season 5 or "Prison Break: Sequel" already has a lot of fans on the edge of their seats.

Will the fifth season deliver and open up potential for more "Prison Break" in the future? Will Sara be able to survive the show for more than one more season? Only time will tell.
