'Power Rangers' release date and news: New motion poster features the new rangers
A lot of fans of "The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" are excited for the reboot coming next year, but the recent trailer that was released didn't even show any of the Rangers in action. A new motion poster has been released featuring all of the Rangers and it gives fans another good look at the new costumes.
The pictures come from the official "Power Rangers" Twitter page, and the motion poster has close-up looks of the different Rangers from the neck up. The post also comes with the tagline, "They must work together to fight for tomorrow."
The story follows five young teenagers from Angel Grove as they are suddenly gifted with mysterious powers. They must band together in order to defeat an alien threat.
The actors behind the Rangers themselves are up-and-comers in the industry like Naomi Scott, Becky G., Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, and RJ Cyler. The side characters, however, are more popular actors; Zordon will be played by "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston and the main villain Rita Repulsa will be played by Elizabeth Banks.
The Rangers' robot helper Alpha 5 will be voiced by SNL alum Bill Hader, and interestingly enough, he also provided the voice for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens'" new mascot droid, BB-8.
The movie is directed by Dean Israelite who helmed the sci-fi thriller "Project Almanac" which was released last year. Hopefully he has the right directing chops to helm the big-budget reboot of the '90s hit show.
Though the trailer focuses more on the backstory of the individual Rangers, fans are hoping that another teaser will finally see the costumed Rangers in action. There has also been no sign of the Rangers giant animal Zords, so fans are also looking forward to that.
Saban's "Power Rangers" will hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
