'Poldark' season 3 air date news, spoilers: New characters threaten Ross and Demelza's relationship
Given the cliffhanger ending of "Poldark" season 2, it's a relief that BBC has already commissioned a third season for the drama series. While "Poldark" isn't expected to return until next year, preliminary details about the upcoming season have already been revealed.
Filming for season 3 already commenced back in September. The new season will be set in 1794 and the French Revolution will play a huge role as it will affect the lives of the people in Cornwall. Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) is said to encounter new family, loves and battles.
"We're thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scales new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama. Ross is older but not necessarily wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him and his loved ones, dear. We're in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher," said writer and executive producer Debbie Horsfield in a press release.
It can be recalled that season 2 ended with Elizabeth's (Heida Reed) pregnancy and viewers are eager to see how this will affect Ross and Demelza's (Eleanor Tomlinson) relationship, especially after Ross vowed that Elizabeth "will never come between us again."
BBC has already released the first trailer for season 3. The 30-second footage does not reveal much in terms of the narrative, but it does feature a lot of the new faces that will be joining the forthcoming season.
"Poldark" season 3 will feature Josh Whitehouse as Hugh Armitage whose arrival will affect all the characters, specifically Ross and Demelza. Meanwhile, Harry Richardson and Tom York will be playing Demelza's brothers, Drake and Sam, respectively. Ellise Chapell also joins the series as Morwenna, Elizabeth's cousin. She will be working for George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) as a governess in order to support her family.
BBC has yet to announce a premiere date for season 3 of "Poldark," but it is expected to air in spring 2017.
