Sony Interactive Entertainment finally drops an official announcement confirming speculations over its virtual reality headset release. The Japanese gaming giant has just revealed that "Driveclub VR" will be PlayStation VR's official launch title. Moreover, fans who can make it to Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany will have a first-hand VR experience of Evolution Studios' PlayStation 4 racing game.

Speculations over the exclusive "Driveclub VR" PlayStation VR launch has been making rounds across various media outlets especially after a July post on the official Japanese PlayStation Blog revealed that the game will be virtual headset's official launch title.

Per official US PlayStation blog, "Driveclub VR" will offer players an "immersive" and "thrilling" experience via PlayStation VR where they can take control of "some of the world's most exotic high-performance cars" with near-realistic "speed, sensation, and precision."

Sony's announcement also mentioned about the VR title launch's features. The game has an online multiplayer mode and a single-player campaign with a slew of drifting and time-pressured challenges. There are also five new urban tracks alongside the classic tracks found in the original game. With the Inspection Mode, players can closely scrutinize more than 80 well-detailed cars. Players can also take their car for a leisure drive with Cruise Mode. Lastly, players can re-live some of their exciting games as Virtual Passengers in replays.

Following announcement, Evolution Studios' "Driveclub" is finally given another shot at redemption. It can be recalled that back in 2013, the game was supposedly geared as an exclusive PlayStation 4 launch title. But a number of setbacks including countless glitches and other gameplay issues forced the Sony to move the launch date to 2014, Ubergizmo report. However, the game didn't perform quite well as expected, forcing Sony to axe the studio. Eventually, most of the studio's game creators were later picked up by Codemasters— known for other video game racing titles like "Dirt" and "F1."

"Driveclub VR" will be released alongside PlayStation VR's official debut on Oct. 13.
