Starting today, Jan. 3, PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) members can now download the set of free games Sony picked for the month of January.

PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PS Vita players will be happy to know that they can start their gaming year right with a free download of the classic graphic adventure, "Day of the Tentacle Remastered."

This PS Plus free game for January was released by LucasArts back in 1993 as a sequel to "Maniac Mansion." The version subscribers are getting is of course the version with improved graphics.

The second title coming for free to PS Plus members rocking the current-generation console is "This War of Mine: The Little Ones," a war survival video game that tells the story of wartime survival from a child's perspective.

For the PlayStation 3 (PS3) faithful subscribed to PS Plus, their first free game for 2017 will be "Blazerush," a high-rated racing survival game in which players race with no health, no leveling and no brakes.

The second PS Plus free game for January for the PS3 is "The Swindle," a steampunk cybercrime action game in which players hack into virtually any building that houses a good load of cash ready to steal. PS4 and PS Vita players can also get the game for free, thanks to Crossbuy.

Sony is also giving two titles to the PS Vita-playing members of the PS Plus for this month. The match-three adventure game "Azkend 2" is one.

The other is "Titan Souls," a high-rated, action-adventure video game, in which PS Plus members will be thrust into "the spiritual source and sum of all living things" in search of truth and power and wielding only one arrow.

This PS Plus freebie for January will also be available to the PS4. This means that for this month, there will be four games for PS4 players to enjoy and four for the PS Vita loyalists.
