'Orphan Black' season 5 spoilers, air date news: Different endings for each of 5 clones? No more clone to be added in final season?
The final season of the Canadian sci-fi series "Orphan Black" is airing in April, and while season 5 will continue with the story of Sarah Manning and her clone sisters, the series' showrunners teased that the clones will have different endings.
Tatiana Maslany, who plays Sarah Manning, also plays four other characters—Alison, Helena, Cosima, and Rachel. That alone is a testament to Maslany's versatility as an actress, although the Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series that she won at the recent Emmy Awards further cements her reputation as such.
According to earlier reports, "Orphan Black" season 5 will give each of the five existing clones their own arcs, which will eventually reveal how each one will end. That indicates the clones will have different endings. As per reports, Maslany herself hinted on her clones' destiny in the fifth season, with some having their happy endings while some get tragic endings.
Showrunners John Fawcett and Graeme Manson already said that there's no need to introduce a new clone in the upcoming installment. Instead, the storyline will concentrate on tying up loose ends from the four previous seasons.
However, aside from closing several arcs, the fifth season is also expected to introduce a new branch of contemporary science, as Headlines and Global News notes. Apparently, Manson and another showrunner, Jordan Gavaris, confirmed that while no more clones will be added in season 5, a unique genetic copy will be seen. Manson goes on to say that they are looking into the possibility of extending the existence of each clone, a field of science that arouses much interest.
As some of the clones ventured into dark places before season 4 ended, it will be interesting to see how their chosen paths will eventually play out when the final episode airs, or perhaps even before that.
There is no word yet on when "Orphan Black" season 5 will premiere, so until then, keep coming back for more updates and news about the series.
