"Orphan Black" season 5 will be the last for the show as announced by series creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson during the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) last July. They also teased that loose ends from the first four seasons will be tied in the fifth and final installment.

As far as Fawcett and Manson are concerned, there is no need for a new clone to be introduced in the upcoming season. Instead, season 5 will focus on the five clones—Sarah, Alison, Helena, Cosima, and Rachel – that are all played by versatile actress Tatiana Maslany.

In an interview with Talk Nerdy with Us at the SDCC, the showrunners said questions that have been bugging fans and viewers' minds since the series started will be answered in "Orphan Black" season 5. In effect, the final season will be a way to tie up loose ends and fill loopholes that the first four seasons left open.

Both Fawcett and Manson promise an epic and fitting end to Sarah and her clone sisters' story, as Entertainment Weekly quotes both as saying, "We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters."

During the show's panel at SDCC, the cast members and showrunners gamely revealed details about the upcoming season. Back in July, several reports teased that "Orphan Black" season 5 will be bloody. Maslany seemingly confirmed the speculations when she said during the panel that a number of characters might die at the final season. Check out the video of the show's panel below:

Speaking of the deaths, Fawcett and Manson were quick to note that nothing has been set in stone yet. That means they haven't exactly chosen which characters will die and which ones will get to see the end of the story. Apparently, they are still poring over the deaths that will occur in season 5. What's certain is the deaths will be major, fittingly giving the best ending for each character in the series.

Meanwhile, the International Business Times claims that "Suits" star Patrick J. Adams might be reprising his role as Jesse in season 5. Jesse is Helena's, one of the clone sisters, love interest. It will be interesting to see how that arc will pan out.

"Orphan Black" season 5 will be airing in April 2017 on BBC.
