The season 4 finale saw Daya (Dascha Polanco) aiming a gun at Correction Officer Humphrey (Michael Torpey), but it remains to be seen whether she pulled the trigger or not. Still, what Daya manifested then—an aggressive and lethal behavior—was something fans were not expecting of her.

Events that marred that closing of "Orange Is the New Black" season 4 probably touched something inside Daya that made her act and react that way, but according to speculations, the developments continuing from the last few scenes of season 4 will put Daya in a tough and critical situation when season 5 premieres.

The International Business Times reports that Daya could possibly be sent to the Special Housing Unit (SHU), or the most dreaded solitary confinement in Litchfield Penitentiary, which the locals try to steer clear of as much as they could. It doesn't matter if Humphrey was wounded or not in that closing scene. The fact that Daya pointed a deadly weapon at someone of authority will spell doom for her.

In another report, iTechPost says Daya's sentence could get extended because of her rash actions. Worse, a bad reputation has automatically been attached to her name after that stunt, so fans and viewers can expect prison personnel to give Daya an unfair treatment, making her prolonged stay at Litchfield a nightmare.

There are speculations that Correction Officer Bennett (Matt McGorry) could return to the scene. It will be recalled that there was something between the two back in season 3, so it's possible that Bennett will come back in time to save Daya from her impending doom.

However, in an interview with Bustle, McGorry will not commit to the questions directed at him regarding the real deal about his character's relationship with Daya. He was also non-committal and evasive when asked about possibly reprising his role on the series.

"Orange Is the New Black" season 5 is expected to stream on Netflix in June 2017.
