'One Punch Man' season 2 air date, spoilers: Saitama to return in 2017, may fight Garou in season finale

After months of speculation, "One Punch Man" season 2 has finally been confirmed. Rumors about what the upcoming episodes will be about have gained more traction since the official announcement.

The good news was revealed during the One Punch Man Autumn Festival held on Sept. 25 at the Omiya Sonic City in Saitama, Japan. The festival saw the gathering of various voice actors and musicians who lent their talents to the first season of the hit anime series.

Hilarious live skits, games and songs entertained "One Punch Man" fans until the official season 2 confirmation was flashed on the screen much to the excitement of everyone in attendance.

There was no specific release date mentioned, but a follow-up tweet on the official "One Punch Man" Twitter account assured fans that work on the second phase of the anime was ongoing and that updates can be expected from both the anime's Twitter and official site.

Yibada speculated that "One Punch Man" season 2 may feature episodes that will test the limits of Saitama's powers, which complements rumors that stronger villains may be introduced in the anime's sophomore run.

Some fans on Reddit believed that Saitama's fight with the Human Monster Garou, like the fight with Lord Boros, may ultimately mark the end of season 2.

In the manga, Saitama had inhibitions about fighting Garou with the same force he used to knock out monsters since no matter how strong the latter was, he was still human and Saitama viewed their fight as nothing more than a game.

But Garou's anime counterpart may prove to be just as strong as Lord Boros was, perhaps even stronger, and could end up forcing Saitama to finally reveal the extent of his true strength.

In another Reddit thread, fans also expressed interest in seeing some of the "One Punch Man" manga's bonus chapters get adapted for the anime. Among the ones mentioned were Saitama saving a cat and her two kittens, a fashion contest where Saitama supposedly revealed his "true powers," and the one about a demonic fan.

According to fan speculations, the most likely release date for "One Punch Man" season 2 is in fall 2017.
