'One Piece' episodes 770, 771 spoilers: Luffy to refuse an alliance with Wano and the minks?

Luffy, the main protagonist of the anime series “One Piece,” is the kind of pirate that does not like cutting corners as he leads his crew towards their ultimate goal. | YouTube/Toei Animation

The Straw Hat Pirates have made quite a reputation for themselves that the warriors from Wano and the Minks of Zou Island believe them to be a valuable asset in their fight against Kaido and his Beast Pirates. However, Luffy, apparently is not one to just say yes to every request for help.

In the next episode of the Japanese anime series, "One Piece," Luffy will refuse Kin'emon, Kanjuro and Raizo's humble request for help in bringing the Shogun of Wano down and taking back their country from the Beast Pirates. This seemingly uncharacteristic decision will shock everyone, especially when Luffy begins telling Momonosuke, the heir of the Kozuki clan, off for doing nothing but cry.

Luffy does this not for lack of willingness to help out, but only because he wants the head of Wano himself to make the request as a man. Titled "A Vow Between Two Men! Luffy and Momonosuke Kozuki!," the episode will eventually see the minks, the Wano warriors, and the Straw Hats striking an alliance against a common enemy, the Yonko pirate, Kaido.

However, Luffy will ask his new allies to give them time to retrieve Sanji first, promising that he will be worth the time since he's as strong as "a thousand men." Luffy's journey to the Whole Cake Island is about to begin, but will they be able to take Sanji back and still make it in time to keep the Wano warriors and the minks from waging war against the Beast Pirates when the Beast Pirates themselves start creating trouble first?

The anime series also added Jack of the Beast Pirates having a flashback to his battle against the Doflamingo's Marine escort, which was cut off when he was about to face off with Issho and Sengoku. Fans are hoping that the truncated flashback will eventually be continued in a different episode, wherein the unseen naval combat between Jack and the Doflamingo escort will finally be shown in details, if only to highlight the powers of the characters who were involved.

"One Piece" episode 771 will air on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 3:30 p.m. JST on Fuji TV.
