'Once Upon a Time' season 6 spoilers, updates: Morpheus comes to life; Emma squaring off with Dark One?
Things are getting pretty exciting in the land of Storybrooke, and if the latest leaked photos from the set are anything to go by, it looks like the upcoming season would be offering loyal viewers of the show lots of thrilling action.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly got first dibs on the news that "24" alum Giles Matthey had been tapped to play Morpheus in season 6. No, the character isn't even remotely connected to the one Lawrence Fishburne made famous in "The Matrix."
This Morpheus is actually the god of dreams from Greek Mythology, who's described as quick-witted, insightful, and good at reading people. Matthey's character is expected to guide people through the world of dreams, so his presence could come in handy for Belle (Emilie de Ravin), who is currently under a sleeping curse.
Apparently, Morpheus has several agenda up his sleeve, which viewers might see unfolding one at a time as the upcoming season progresses into the story. Nevertheless, he will mostly be interacting with Belle and Rumple (Robert Carlyle).
In other "Once Upon a Time" season 6 news, leaked photos of the cast filming episodes for the upcoming season have gone viral, particularly on the YVR Shoots website. In one photo, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) could be seen fighting a hooded figure that eerily resembles a Dark One.
Now fans of the show know that Emma once fell prey to the Dark One inside of her, and with split personalities being one of the main arcs for season 6, could the one she's fighting be her own alter ego or is it a new character altogether?
The International Business Times noted that the premiere episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 6 will be titled "The Savior," so the plot could focus on Emma again.
Another photo showed Regina (Lana Parrilla) in a heated discussion with Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer), with one snap showing Mr. Hyde's hand around Regina's throat. However, succeeding photos show Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), Emma, and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) taking care of business and subduing Mr. Hyde.
Is the Dark One someone who already exists or is it a new character coming to life in Storybrooke? How would Regina's battle against Mr. Hyde pan out?
Viewers of the show will know the answers to those questions when "Once Upon a Time" season 6 returns on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
