Oklahoma City Thunder trade rumors: Westbrook and Durant's relationship still positive
The Oklahoma City Thunder was just a single win away from returning to the NBA Finals as they held a 3-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors.
Unfortunately, they lost that lead. Earlier in the summer, the Thunder also gave up Kevin Durant to the same team after the forward announced he will move to the Bay Area and join forces with the Warriors.
Durant's decision made a huge impact on the Oklahoma-based franchise and has also placed a lot of the burden on the remaining star of the team, Russell Westbrook.
Many imagined that the two were inseparable but now they are heading into the new season as rivals who belong to two of the more popular teams in the Western Conference.
However, Yahoo! reported that the relationship between Westbrook and Durant is still intact.
While talking to a crowd in a Nike event, Durant was asked how things were between the two. He simply stated that the two were "still cool."
He claimed, "We're still cool. We're going to compete against each other at the highest level. We're gonna have fun against each other. We're still cool."
NewsOK also reported on the answer that KD gave the fans, but also gave light on what Westbrook feels about the matter.
In an interview with NewsOK last August, Westbrook did admit that things are going to be different but he did not show any animosity or negative feelings towards Durant. Westbrook said that everything they went through together will not be thrown away because of KD's decision.
"We've been together eight years. You don't throw that away. Obviously he's now with a new team. But we definitely will talk. Eventually. But, obviously, now we haven't," he added.
It should be very interesting to see how things will play out in the coming season. The two will first face off on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Oracle Arena, and again next year on Feb. 11 in their first clash at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
