NVIDIA might not have unveiled the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this month, but gaming fanatics may get to see it in a couple months' time.

A number of publications have reported that NVIDIA is planning to launch the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti at the PAX East showcase on March 10–12. These predictions are based on what Ari Altman of The Tech Buyer's Guru revealed earlier this month about how an MSI representative at CES 2017 informed him of NVIDIA's plans.

"It turns out that there really is such thing as the GTX 1080 Ti, and not only will it be available from board partners (MSI being one of the biggest), but it will be coming around PAX East 2017, which kicks off on March 10, 2017," he said in his piece about the event.

Madison.com's Ashraf Eassa seems to believe that NVIDIA is holding back the GTX 1080 Ti's release because the company needs to manage channel inventories. He said Pacific Crest's Michael McConnell may be on to something when the analyst revealed that "high-end NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 card inventory levels have risen to 2 to 2.5 months in the channel versus targeted levels of 1 to 1.5 months due to weaker-than-expected sell-through in late October and November" in his report last month (via Barrons).

In the report, McConnell also noted that the demand for high-end graphics cards may be slowing.

With this in mind, Eassa believes that now may not be the best time for NVIDIA to release the GTX 1080 Ti because resellers may not want to get rid of the older stocks before they stock up on the new graphics card.

Of course, it should be noted that this is just a speculation, so readers are advised to take it with a pinch of salt. Will NVIDIA introduce the GTX 1080 Ti to the world in March? Interested buyers will have to wait and see.
