Once Nintendo's most closely guarded secret, the Switch has already been revealed in its entirety including its design, technical specifications and launch titles. The only question left unanswered is whether gaming enthusiasts will be lining up to purchase the hybrid console come March 3.

With the revelation that the Nintendo Switch still isn't comparable to Sony's PlayStation 4 or Microsoft's Xbox One in terms of technical prowess, a lot of people are skeptical about the upcoming video game console. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that Nintendo is offering a unique gaming experience with its innovative hybrid setup which could be the secret to the Switch's success.

According to gamesindustry.biz, market research firm DFC Intelligence analyst is optimistic about the Nintendo Switch's potential to sell 40 million units by the end of 2020. This would mean that the hybrid console will be able to sell almost three times as many units as its predecessor, the Wii U, in its entire lifespan. To recall, the Wii U is considered as a failure for Nintendo due to its weak sales and lack of third-party support.

The research firm added that demand for the Nintendo Switch is strong and its overall performance in the market could depend on how well it will do during the holiday shopping season this December.

"The Switch is a compelling piece of hardware that could potentially reach a much larger addressable market. However given the limited software and Nintendo's poor recent track record of introducing new products we have tempered our forecasts to be conservative," said DFC Intelligence head David Cole.

Nevertheless, Nintendo remains confident that their new console will not stumble like the Wii U.

"Nintendo Switch is a home console you can play anywhere, with anyone. Clear. Compelling. We see the reaction by consumers whether it's measured in Twitter trending topics or views of videos on YouTube ... We have communicated the proposition clearly and it is compelling," said Reggie Fils-Aimé, Nintendo of America president.

With everything that has been said, one thing is for certain: A lot of people will be paying attention to the Nintendo Switch when it launches.

The Nintendo Switch will be available to purchase for $299.99.
