New York Knicks trade rumors: Will Rose eventually be traded?
NBA players are usually traded due to their performances on the court, however there are also cases that force a team to shop their star due to things that happen outside.
Recent rumors claim that the New York Knicks may choose to trade Derrick Rose due to the issues he's faced outside the court. Worth $21.3 million, much is expected from Rose this year but a lot of issues outside the basketball court has garnered more attention than his play inside.
Rose was put in trial in a rape case along with his friends. Rose and his friends went to the victim's home and allegedly committed sexual assault against Rose's ex-girlfriend.
Rose and his friends were cleared of the charges and they were able to walk away freely. However, it left a horrible scar in his legacy and it spills over to the basketball floor.
With that, it seems that the Knicks are ready to distance themselves as far away from Rose as possible, with rumors of him possibly being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder as an option.
In that scenario, Rose will not replace Russell Westbrook. Instead, they are being looked at to form a duo.
Looking at his performance, Rose is far from the superstar he once was. Due to injuries, Rose has missed a lot of time on the court and has lost the explosiveness that was once a large part of his repertoire.
He was still able to show signs and glimpses of what he had before, but he is far from the dominating force that many loved to watch.
Last year, Rose averaged a decent 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. He has one chance with the Knicks this year and it is possible that he gets traded if things do not go according to plan.
The ball is in Rose's hands at the moment, and it is up to him to come out on top.
