New York Knicks trade rumors 2016: Eyeing Rudy Gay for bench power
Another team has expressed interest in Rudy Gay as the New York Knicks have reportedly attempted to get the forward from the Sacramento Kings.
Talks have been circulating that many teams are interested in getting Gay off the Kings as Sacramento are believed to be shopping him around.
The Knicks are reportedly one of the many teams, and New York is hoping to land Gay in order to strengthen their bench in order to make a run towards the NBA Playoffs.
At 29 years old, Gay is certainly entering the prime of his career. Unfortunately for him, his relationship with the Kings has deteriorated and is said to be the why they are trying to let go of the two-way player.
It is also suggested that the Knicks are interested in providing depth in the bench as Gay has the same position as the Knicks' leader Carmelo Anthony.
If Gay arrives in the Big Apple, he will serve as a very reliable back-up when Anthony hits the bench, and he even adds a new dimension to the team as Gay is even more reliable than Melo on the defensive end of the floor.
New York currently has new players in the team, and Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose are their biggest signings as they attempt to make it back to the elite of the Eastern Conference.
Already equipped with Melo and Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks definitely look good on paper, and adding Gay will only make them better.
However, there are a few obstacles in the way as Gay has a relatively big contract, and it seems the Knicks have to let go of a few players in order to make the deal possible.
Furthermore, there are many other teams interested in Gay such as the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets that have more chances at the post-season than the Knicks currently have at the moment.
