New York Knicks team news: On paper, the Knicks look like a strong team
For the first time in more than two years, it appears the New York Knicks have the tools to go further this year. Although while there is still so much work left to do this season, for the Knicks' longtime star Carmelo Anthony, there is certainly good news. Apparently, many believe that this is the year he may find the help he needs.
In an article, there is an air of positivity surrounding the Knicks player and 2016 may be the first time since their last appearance in the NBA playoffs back in the 2012-13 season.
As for personal accolades, Anthony has it all. He has been in the All-Star team for the last nine seasons, 11 in total, which shows just how important he is in the league. He also has three Olympic gold medals around his neck.
Anthony is an undoubted scoring machine, averaging 24.9 points per game in his long NBA career.
However, the only glaring thing missing from him is an NBA championship and there were talks about whether or not Anthony was ever going to get a ring.
But with new acquisitions this season to surround Anthony, he finally has the players he needs. This includes Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah arriving from the Chicago Bulls, and Courtney Lee who is a steal from the Memphis Grizzlies. Kristaps Porzingis was also a steal in last year's draft and is a young prospect ready to help Anthony reach uncharted territories.
The team is now building around 'Melo this year and this is necessary in order to get more wins to come in. Having Lee, Porzingis and Noah in the lineup gives Melo the chance to play with people can help him out with their great defensive awareness.
As for the offense, Rose can still command some attention and that will finally help alleviate some of the pressure from Anthony.
The road is still long and it will not happen overnight but at least there is now some sense of positivity in the Big Apple.
