New York Giants roster news: Manning continues to struggle as Giants slump
After winning the first two games of the 2016 season, the New York Giants have fallen off hard in the National Football League.
They lost three straight games and now find themselves at the bottom of the NFC East, where the other three teams are above the .500 mark.
With such disappointing performances, Eli Manning's poor form is at the center of it all.
NY Daily News highlighted that Manning has not been his usual self in the first five games of the season, despite having a lot of factors that point to him having a significant improvement this season.
One point that should be working for Manning is that he is coming off two of his best years in terms of statistics. Another is that he should be used to Ben McAdoo's system since this is their third year together.
Finally, and most importantly, Manning has three big-named receivers to use as targets that should seemingly make his life a lot easier.
Unfortunately, that's not the case and their most recent loss to the Green Bay Packers just shows how much they are in need of help.
The passing game was nullified by the Packers and this kept Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard all contained.
Manning certainly had difficulty as he only threw 199 yards in the game, the lowest so far in the season, and only one touchdown pass all night.
He did not give up an interception against the Packers but the glaring statistics for that night showed that he was sacked three times. While this does not always fall directly on the quarterback but on the offensive line, it just shows how disjointed the Giants are at the moment.
While everyone needs work, it has to start from the top, and Manning is at the helm when on the field. He needs to improve significantly if he wants to help turn things around for the team.
