'New Girl' season 6 episode 10 spoilers: Megan Fox returns as Reagan in midseason finale

Christmas is coming and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is determined to make it extra special for her friends by organizing a Secret Santa gift exchange in the midseason finale of "New Girl." But who will cheer her up when the gift exchange goes awry and she is left without a gift at the end of the day?

In the episode titled "Christmas Eve Eve," Jess and her loftmates celebrate the holidays with a Secret Santa gift exchange that seems to be just a step away from a disaster at every turn. Winston (Lamorne Morris) decides to order his gift for Cece (Hannah Simone) online, but ends up rushing to an actual store with Schmidt (Max Greenfield) for a replacement gift when he starts worrying his online order may not make it in time.

On the other hand, Nick (Jake Johnson) ends up buying the item that Jess is planning to purchase for him as a gift, thereby leading the distraught Jess to call up Nick's long-distance girlfriend Reagan (Megan Fox), who will then fly in as a last-minute Secret Santa gift, and will even dress up for the part, as teased in the official episode preview.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Dave Finkel shared that Jess will be okay, even with Reagan around, because she believed that as long as Nick was happy, then she was not going to be the one to break them apart.

"She puts friendship first," Finkel added.

However, despite giving it her all to make the Secret Santa gift exchange a success for everyone else, Jess will end up not receiving a gift herself. It will then be up to her friends to try and cheer her up with a plan that may just go a wee bit overboard.

As executive producer Brett Baer said in the same Entertainment Weekly article, "There was something nice about going out with the greatest gift of all."
