Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry Maps PS4 and PC Release Date: 'Evolve' Brings New Features
Players who have been getting their monster hunter fix via "Evolve" will now also get two new maps for the game.
The maps called Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry were exclusively released for the Xbox One last March. The maps came to the PlayStation 4 and PC at around 8 p.m. EDT last Thursday.
The announcement of the new maps came via 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios which had entered into an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft for the release of the two maps. Since that agreement was ending, they were able to release the maps for Microsoft's competitor Sony and its PlayStation 4 console.
The maps provide more monster hunting fun in two new locations. The Broken Hill Mine map covers a number of caves with mines on the planet named Shear, while the Broken Hill Foundry transports players to a factory. In addition, the maps also bring brand-new campaign-based effects for the Evacuation mode in the game.
"Evolve" was released last February and has since then been providing players with a weekly community challenge and rewarding them with free DLC content. This strategy has proven to be extremely popular and over the weeks the goals have been regularly surpassed by players.
This week, there is an "Evolve headshot challenge" which kicked off on May 1 at 12:01 a.m. ET. It will continue over the weekend and wind up on Monday at 12:01 a.m. ET. During that period, any player who logs into the game and helps to land 2 million headshots while playing as the hunter Parnell will get the Parnell Predator skin for free as download. If, however, the target of 2.8 million headshots is achieved, gamers will receive the whole Assault Predator Skin Set for free. If the challenge is successfully completed over the weekend, gamers who participated can expect to download the skins by May 7.
