'NCIS' season 14 spoilers news: Wilmer Valderrama's character to clash with Gibbs and team? Actor talks about show's cast shakeups

While Wilmer Valderrama's addition to "NCIS" season 14 has been confirmed and announced by the showrunners and the actor himself, very little is known about the character he would be portraying. What is certain is that his entry to the series is expected to fill in the void left by Michael Weatherly's (Tony DiNozzo) departure.

What fans of the show know so far based on write-ups about the upcoming installment of CBS' well-loved police procedural drama is that Valderrama would be playing the role of a field agent who went on a deep cover assignment years ago. He has been assumed dead after terminating all communication with NCIS, as he hasn't been back from the assignment, but he turns up to join Gibbs' team as a "loose cannon."

TV Line caught up with the cast of "NCIS" at the San Diego Comic-Con, and Valderrama gave his two cents' about the recent cast shakeups, which also saw the addition of Jennifer Esposito as a new female agent and the promotion of Duane Henry to series regular.

"The dynamic of the show has definitely evolved into something else ... Some of the new characters that are coming in are channeling something else and challenging the genre. We're doing things that are very different than the fans haven't seen before," he said.

In a separate interview with Buddy TV, also during the SDCC, Valderrama said his character, Nick Torres, might not get along with his teammates because of his "lone wolf" nature. Moreover, he might have a few clashes here and there with Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), perhaps brought forth by his being off the grid for a long time as an undercover agent.

Still, Valderrama only has good words for Harmon, whom he said showed him the ropes "in an hour." He also said they were "laughing and high fiving and shaking hands after every take and hugging."

"Mark is lovely and I am honoured and excited to learn, and play opposite someone that gives you everything he's got. So, that is something that is rare in this industry, specifically show at goes this long," the 36-year-old actor said of Harmon.

"NCIS" season 14 will return with new episodes on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS Network.
