'NCIS: Los Angeles' season 8 updates, spoilers: What we know so far about upcoming 8th installment
"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 would be back on air in about two months, and so far, very little is known about the upcoming installment's plot.
So far, what showrunner John Peter Kousakis hinted is that Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) would undergo a major change in her life. Now fans are wondering if this pivotal change would anything to do with her conversation with Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), just as season 7 was winding down when they talked about where their relationship was heading.
Ruah is expecting a baby in real life, and while fans are anticipating a pregnancy in the upcoming installment, the showrunners are keeping mum. The first time the actress got pregnant while filming the series, she was given an arc that allowed her to take time off from the show. It remains to be seen if the same would be done this instance or if Kensi and Deeks would find themselves pregnant somewhere in season 8.
There is also a possibility that the "life-altering condition" that Kousakis previously talked about on the part of Kensi would open the way for Ruah to prepare for her real-life pregnancy. If that happens, then Ruah might be missing in action from the team for a while.
Gemmill has already said through an interview with TV Guide that Kensi doesn't have to give up her career in case a pregnancy figures into her arc, as she loves what she does so much. On the flipside, they don't want fans to think Kensi is "not a nurturing individual" who would avoid getting pregnant as much as possible.
What is certain about the upcoming season is that focus would be given on Kensi and Deeks' relationship. Thus, fans could expect that their romance would figure early in the season, perhaps right on the premiere episode, as Movie News Guide surmised.
The blooming romance between Kensi and Deeks is a long time coming, and executive producer Scott Gemmill has said a few months back that the characters would be given a wider arc in the upcoming season. According to International Business Times, Gemmill teased of an unconventional proposal between the two, as it has always been in the blueprint for season 8.
Another thing that is sure about "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 is that it's coming back on air on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
