NBA trade rumors: Trade talks for Rudy Gay re-ignited with a possible move to the Heat

It appears that Rudy Gay's name has again been thrown in the mix as a move to the Eastern Conference is eyed for the swingman.

The small forward currently plays for the Sacramento Kings but has always been linked to a move away; this time the Miami Heat could be battling to get his signature for the coming season.

According to the deal, the Heat and the Kings are eyeing a trade that would bring Gay and Daren Collison to the Heat, while the Kings get Goran Dragic in return.

This move appears to show that the Kings are looking to let go of Collison as well, as they are bringing a player who will immediately take his place in the line-up.

For the Heat, this rumor also questions whether they are trying to do a complete rebuild since they are letting go of the assets they had to build them into a strong team.

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are not playing for the Heat anymore and it appears that the Heat are also ready to let go of Dragic; leaving Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow as the only real options for the team.

Many believe that this move is for the Heat to tank, as they try to rebuild by getting various pieces through trades and try to climb up the draft in the coming seasons.

However, they may also be trying to stay competitive this season as Gay and Collison may be good additions to help Whiteside out.

Despite being 30 years old, Gay is still operating at his usual rate as he averaged 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds last year.

He can easily replicate that number with the Heat to make up for the losses they had this summer.

As for Collison, he may presents a better skill set offensively compared to Dragic, as Collison averages 12.6 points per game in his career.

Having a guard that can shoot can definitely stretch the floor for the Heat so it may turn out to be a good idea after all.
