NBA trade rumors: Pelicans' star wants out of his team
If rumors are to be believed, Anthony Davis has had enough of the New Orleans Pelicans as he is looking for a way out of the Western Conference team.
Davis has had a spectacular season so far, putting up MVP numbers in order to lead the Pelicans in every game.
Unfortunately, it has not translated to wins and as of writing, the Pelicans are winless at 0-5. They find themselves outside looking in once more.
In those five games, Davis has been monstrous for his club, averaging an incredible 31.6 points and 12 rebounds per game. He is scoring at an impressive rate of 46 percent from the field, despite only shooting 18 percent from beyond the arc.
His bloated numbers are understandable as he remains the only realistic threat in the Pelicans and it seems that he wants out of the bad situation.
The rumor mill said that he wants a trade and the possible destination is the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs might be interested as they are sending in a trade package that includes LaMarcus Aldridge to the Pelicans; the man who Davis will possibly replace.
If this were to happen, it would be a big deal for the Spurs and Davis as the Spurs will have a versatile forward who will easily complement the games of their stars Kahwi Leonard and Tony Parker.
Davis is quick and loves playing defense which would give the Spurs an immediate threat. In addition, he is much younger than Aldridge which means he has more years left in him and may not be in his peak just yet.
At the rate they're going, the Pelicans might not make the playoffs so it may be an option for them rather than having a distraught star on their team.
While this is only a rumor, it is interesting to conceive if the two teams manage to make this a reality.
