Despite being one of the best players in the league, it appears that DeMarcus Cousins' place with the Sacramento Kings is always up in the air. He competes at a high level when on the court, but his inconsistencies and breakdowns have also taken center stage.

According to some talks, this may be the perfect time for the Kings to break their ties with their All-Star center.

Cousins is undoubtedly a great center. As far as many are concerned, he is the best pure center in the league at the moment. He is great with the ball and has enough power to will his way against defenders. He is also no slouch on the defensive end and is willing to sacrifice his body just to get the ball.

Since arriving in the league in the 2010-11 season, Cousins has been dominant; he averages 20.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Last season, he produced excellent numbers as he finished with 65 games in the regular season and averaging 26.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

With that, the Kings core may be on its last leg at the moment. Rajon Rondo is gone as he is trying to revive his career with the Chicago Bulls, while Rudy Gay has often been in talks to move away this season.

Given this, it may be time for the Kings to part ways with Cousins as well.

By the looks of it, Cousins has reached his ceiling. His worth as a player may be at its best at the moment since he is still young and powerful.

Looking at his contract, he is also near the end of it. Now may be the perfect time for the Kings to deal him for a team who needs a superstar to completely move forward.

There is no doubt that Cousins is a star, but it seems unlikely that he is the superstar the Kings need.
