NBA trade rumors: If Aldridge is dealt, what teams could he play for?

The San Antonio Spurs made an incredible statement in the opening game of the 2016-17 season as they crushed the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena.

San Antonio dominated from start to finish en route to a 129-100 victory.

Kahwi Leonard had a monster game with 35 points to set a new career high, but LaMarcus Aldridge was also relevant as he led the team with 14 rebounds and 26 points.

With that, rumors of him moving around should die down slowly, but if the Spurs suddenly stumble later on, what are the possible teams that could be in contention for the power forward?

Folks over at Fan Sided reported a few teams that they considered if ever the Spurs still wanted to part ways with their star forward.

The first team in their list is the Phoenix Suns. They are currently still rebuilding at the moment but they have a few pieces that could help improve the squad if Aldridge is injected.

They have a very young roster with the likes of Devin Booker and Brandon Knight, and having an anchor underneath in the form of Aldridge may be the only thing that is needed to bring them to playoff contention.

Another team considered is the Denver Nuggets as they are in a relatively similar situation as the Suns.

The biggest thing to consider for the Nuggets is they have pieces to actually make the trade possible. If the Nuggets want to pick up Aldridge, they will have to let go of their own starting power forward Kenneth Faried.

Faried would actually be great for the Spurs as he does not look to constantly score but does the tough jobs like hustle and rebounding.

As for the Nuggets, they will get Aldridge who will become the team's best player.

Finally, one team that could give Aldridge the immediate success he wants as compared to the others in the list is the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics are only a few pieces away from being real contenders in the Eastern Conference. They threw their hat in the Kevin Durant fiasco and may still want a superstar and Aldridge may be the answer.

For the Spurs, they can also benefit from a trade as they are likely to get some young and dependable guards who can be back-ups in the future when Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili retire.

These are all speculations as the verdict is still out on how the Spurs will fare this season. If their first win is any indication, San Antonio might not need to do this at all.
