NBA trade rumors 2016: Greg Monroe moving to Hollywood

After going through another subpar season that saw them finish last in the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers are continuing to rebuild and are hoping to land even bigger players this summer.

Last season, the Lakers only managed to win 17 games all season and the only saving grace was Kobe Bryant's farewell tour. Aside from celebrating one of the best players to ever play the game, there was nothing to cheer about for the Lakers.

With Bryant now officially retired, the Lakers are searching for new blood to lead the team. They are imploring a win-now mentality, and according to reports, they might be looking to Milwaukee Bucks' big man Greg Monroe to fill the void in the middle.

Already six years into his professional career, Monroe has played for the Detroit Pistons and the Bucks. As the seventh overall pick in the 2010 draft, people knew that Monroe could play, the only question was if it will translate in the NBA.

He is consistent, averaging not less than 15.2 points per game in his last five seasons in the league. He is also a career 50 percent shooter which makes him very efficient and a big asset for any team who wants a big man.

At the moment, Monroe has a contract that earns him $17 million in the coming year before having a player option after the 2017-18 season.

Rumors are circulating that the Lakers are trying to pry Monroe away from the Bucks and may give up Nick Young and Lou Williams to push through with the deal.

While this may not help the Lakers become immediate contenders, this will definitely come a long way as they already have Timofey Mozgov in the lineup, and recently drafted potential superstar Brandon Ingram as the second pick in this year's draft.

Los Angeles still have Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell, and the young core of the team should improve this year and lift the franchise.
