NBA trade rumors: Celtics looking to trade multiple players for superstar
The Indiana Pacers definitely built a team who can contend in the coming season, but rumors are circulating that their biggest star may be making a move.
The Pacers are being reportedly linked to a dramatic deal that could send Paul George to the Celtics for six of Boston's current players.
Rumor has it that the Celtics are willing to let go of Jae Crowder, Jaylen Brown, Amir Johnson, James Young and two first-round draft picks. In return, the Celtics will pick up George along with swingman Monta Ellis in the deal.
This is incredible, given that the Pacers built a roster that looks like a contender on paper. The Pacers have George, Jeff Teague, Al Jefferson and Ellis in a high-energy team that could certainly surprise anyone in the league.
However, this news would certainly drop their stocks as George is primed to have a breakout year for the Pacers. Losing him would certainly be a big hit on the franchise.
George is ready to hit his stride this year. At 26 years old, George is already an elite player and averaged 23.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game last season. The point output is the best in George's career, along with tying his career highs with steals at 1.9 and assists.
For the Celtics, the biggest name on the list may be Crowder as he is very versatile and can do a lot on the court. In his first full season with the Celtics, Crowder enjoyed his best campaign as he put up career highs in points at 14.2, rebounds at 5.1, assists at 1.8, steals at 1.7 and blocks at 0.5
However, he is still a few years away from being the star George currently is.
The players that the Pacers may get might take a while to get used to the chemistry in Indiana, making the Pacers step a few years back from where they actually want to be.
