'NBA 2K17' news and update: Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors to become most popular team on 2K17?
The Golden State Warriors is a force of nature to be reckoned with in the National Basketball Association. Despite failing to secure the 2015–16 NBA championship title after losing to Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals' seven-game stretch, the Stephen Curry-led Warriors will reportedly become the most popular team on basketball simulation game "NBA 2K17," some observers predict.
Undoubtedly, the reigning two-time Most Valuable Player is a three-pointer god whose accurate shooting skills enabled him to make record-breaking feats in recent memory including Golden State's 73 regular season wins that toppled the regular season record previously held by Michael Jordan-led 1995–96 Chicago Bulls.
The point guard's scoring ability could set him on the path of one of NBA's all-time scoring legends. Curry three-point streak last season is already a record to beat. Per ESPN, Steph's had 51 percent accuracy on his three-point shots taken from 28 feet from the ring and the half-court line. Most NBA players could only manage to shoot 21 percent from 23 feet at its deepest.
As the Warriors prepare for championship campaign to avenge this year's title loss to the Cavs, NBA 2K developer Visual Concepts is currently taking note of recent developments in the offseason especially with recent addition of former MVP Kevin Durant to the Golden State's roster.
"On defense, it was already tough enough to stop Curry and the Warriors. Now, opponents will have to contend with Durant as well, and it's almost a sure bet that the Warriors will be the most popular team in NBA 2K17 online play," wrote Samit Sarkar of Polygon.
Meanwhile, recent "NBA 2K17" update by Forbes reveals Durant's new screenshot look of his basketball avatar. The Warriors small forward appears to have a sleeker look in the recent image teaser. Along with 2K Sports' Durant snap teaser, other players like Paul George, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Andre Drummond are also getting virtual renders rolled out for media releases.
