"Narcos" Season 3 will shift its focus to the Cali Cartel following the death of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and the Medellin Cartel that died along with him.

Interestingly, Agent Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) might still be in charge of taking the new organization down while his partner Steven Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) might be going away soon.

In real life, Pena flew to the United States for a new mission after the successful takedown of the Medellin Cartel. However, the casting news about the Netflix series suggests that he is not going anywhere.

Two new series regulars have been announced for "Narcos" season 3 to play the role of two new agents set out to go after Cali and apparently help Pena in the mission.

Michael Stahl-David was added to play the role of Chris Feistl, described by The Hollywood Reporter as a "young American DEA agent who sought out an assignment to Colombia" as Cali Cartel rises to power.

Matt Whelan is also another series regular for "Narcos" season 3 and will Feistl's partner Daniel Van Ness, who is not as "straight-edge and serious" as the other agent.

THR says that these two will indeed be joining Pena in the bid to stop Cali. There is no mention of Holbrook's return as Murphy and fans are starting to wonder if he will be back.

With new agents helping out Pena, Murphy might be sidelined in "Narcos" season 3. Up to now, there is no news on Holbrook's status on the show.

As for Pascal's return, executive producer Eric Newman is not shy in admiring the actor's work. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he hinted that he will find a way to bring him back.

"We try to be as bound to what actually happened as we can — within reason, obviously. We do take some liberties for dramatic purposes," Newman told Entertainment Weekly.

"But I'd probably have to look at what Pena's role would be in the Cali, in taking down Cali. I love working with Pedro Pascal, so nothing would make me happier than to be back in business with him in some way," he continued.

It appears as though he found a way. "Narcos" season 3 will premiere next year on Netflix. Production is now underway.
