'Narcos' season 3 spoilers news 2016: Boyd Holbrook not returning? Real Steve Murphy teases non-involvement in new season
As the filming for "Narcos" season 3 continues, cast member Pedro Pascal takes happenings behind the scenes to his social media.
Pascal, who will reprise his role as DEA Agent Javier Pena in "Narcos" season 3, is still part of the production and just released a photo of him in his Pena getup in front of a cloud of red smoke.
In fact, majority of his recent photos were from Colombia, where, of course, "Narcos" season 3 is being filmed at the moment. From the looks of it, Pena will be heavily involved in this season despite his real-life counterpart returning to the United States after the takedown of Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar. Pascal also shared a photo of Michael Stahl-David, one of the new additions to "Narcos" season 3. He will play the role of Chris Feistl, one of the new DEA Agent to accompany Pena to take down the Cali Cartel.
It is unclear if Boyd Holbrook will be back as DEA Agent Steven Murphy in "Narcos" season 3 for the buddy cop duo to be complete again. He played coy when inquired about it.
"Well, there's so many anchors in this show," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about whether or not he will return to the series.
"It's just really interesting how every character works off each other and I think that's really where you're going to see the show evolve, is creating these new relationships," he went on to say.
Many fear that he is not reprising his role in "Narcos" season 3, but the coyness Holbrook and even executive producer Eric Newman have suggested that they might have something up their sleeves for the character.
The real Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that he also came back to the United States after having dealt with the Medellin Cartel. He then teased that, "The agent who was there when the Cali Cartel was taken down, I think you'll see him in season 3."
"Narcos" season 3 will premiere fall next year on Netflix.
