'Mr. Robot' season 2 episode 9 plot spoilers: Angela to demand more from E. Corp? Elliot and Darlene seek answers
"Mr. Robot" season 2 is down to its last four episodes, with the finale expected to air on Sept. 14. Now it looks like the remaining episodes mean more drama up ahead for Elliot and Darlene Alderson and Angela Moss.
Wednesday's episode 8, titled "eps2.6_succ3ss0r.p12," did not see Elliot (Rami Malek) in any of the scenes, but it did find his sister Darlene (Carly Chaikin) and other members of fsociety at the home of E. Corp chief counsel Susan Jacobs (Sandrine Holt). There, they learned about Project Bernstein, an illegal surveillance of 3 million people for 5/9, with 16 prime suspects, one of which is already dead.
The fsociety took to releasing the information, but Susan arrives home and sees them, so they had no recourse but to tie her up and hack her for blackmail. It was also revealed in the episode that Susan was involved in the death of Edward Alderson (Christian Slater), Elliot and Darlene's father.
It was at this point that Darlene remembered her 4-year-old self seeing Susan laughing about the case that killed her father, so she tazes her with a stun gun. Unfortunately, Susan had a heart condition, so she suffered a heart attack in her swimming pool, with Darlene deciding to leave her there to drown. She finally committed a murder she had been plotting since she was a child of four.
Incidentally, Chaikin spoke to Entertainment Weekly where she dished on this unexpected twist to Darlene's arc. According to her, that scene was her favorite.
"As an actor, it was one of those scenes where the second I got home, it was all I wanted to work on. It makes so much sense—justifying what Darlene is doing and why. It's a badass scene and my favorite I've ever done," she said.
Episode 9, which is airing on Aug. 31 and titled "eps2.7_init_5.fve," shares this synopsis:
"Angela wants more from E Corp than they want to give; and Elliot and Darlene seek answers."
While Elliot is holed up in some correctional facility trying to get chummy with his alter ego, Mr. Robot, it looks like Angela (Portia Doubleday) will be busy climbing up to social ladder at E. Corp. She will do so even if it means demanding more from the company than they are willing to give. Will that be Angela's end game?
On the other hand, Darlene will be making huge decisions in order to save fsociety from the FBI. Is Dominique DiPierro (Grace Gummer) close to tracking down the hacker group? How far will Darlene go to stop the authorities from busting fsociety? What will be Elliot and Mr. Robot's next move? Can they help Darlene? Moreover, is Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallström) still alive?
"Mr. Robot" season 2 episode 9 is expected to answer all those questions when it airs on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 9 p.m. CT/10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
