'Mortal Kombat X' Characters News, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 Release Date: Game Seeks More Realistic Female Characters
"Mortal Kombat" has always been about realism. That is why the upcoming video game will have a more realistic look, NetherRealm Studios has announced.
Spiro Anagnostakos, production manager of the American video game developer, explained that the mantra of realism is the reason why the game's female characters will look realistically proportioned.
"So the same thing applies to the proportions where we try to bring things back in per se to where they should be," Anagnostakos said, according to Gamespot.
"Women will look more like women do," he added.
As evidence of this, Anagnostakos revealed a new character model for the fighter Kitana, who he said does not have an overly exaggerated features.
During the same live-stream, NetherRealm also revealed that Jade will not be returning to the roster for the new game, IGN reported.
But NetherRealm assured that the spirit of Jade will live on in her childhood friend Kitana, who has moves inspired by the fighter in the 10th video game of the 'Mortal Kombat" series.
Also teased during Thursday's live stream was the possibility of the return of Brutalities to Mortal Kombat X as finishing moves, with the team promising that its next "Mortal Kombat" live stream will be more "brutal."
The announcements came after two characters of "Mortal Kombat X," Sonya Blade and Jax, appeared to have been inadvertently leaked in a Portuguese-language video created for Brazil.
In the video, the voice talent for Cassie Cage is heard reading the lines "Stay away from my mother," referencing Sonya, and, "Are you OK, Uncle Jax? Your joints are cracking."
"Mortal Kombat X," which will be released on April 14, is being developed for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is expected to be ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by High Voltage Software.
The game is said to include a new, original and non-linear storyline "showcasing some of the game's most prolific characters including the likes of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together."
It was announced that the story would begin at the end of the previous game and then eventually transition to 25 years into the future, placing emphasis on aged veterans, new characters, and the next-generation offspring of the previous fighters.
