'Mob Psycho 100' episode 12 spoilers: Reigen saves the day; is a second season imminent?
When a con-man's claims suddenly become true, he can make a believer out of anyone including himself. Such was apparent in the 12th and final episode of the animated TV series "Mob Psycho 100" season 1, leaving fans wanting to know more and wondering if the show will have a second season.
The season finale of "Mob Psycho 100" season 1 spent the better part of the half-hour exposing the 7th Division Claw members for who they truly were, thanks to the insightful words of con-man, Arataka Reigen. But the irony of it was that, anybody who had ever doubted the truthfulness of Reigen's claims of possibly being the strongest psychic around, was stunned out of their skepticisms when he began showing off the powers that he had only been claiming to have up to this point.
However, this power was only just a temporary loaner from Mob who accidentally transferred the full brunt of his psychic mojo to Reigen when his master slapped him back to sanity. Reigen was still not the powerful psychic that he always claimed to be, but after he single-handedly defeated the remaining members of the 7th Division Claw, by deflecting their attacks and reprimanding them more than physically attacking them, nobody dared question his prowess from thereon out.
Additionally, as a side effect to his temporary acquisition of Mob's psychic powers, Reigen's third eye had been forced open and he could now see evil spirits. It still remains to be known how else Mob's power has affected him. Seeing evil spirits may very well be just the initial stage of activating a powerful ability he doesn't even know he has. Perhaps the second season may shed some light on this matter, if not confirm that Reigen is really just a normal person all along.
Another revelation that was featured in the first season's finale episode was that Sho was the son of the Claw founder, Touichirou Suzuki, and was sent to the 7th Division to simply inspect a small portion of an apparently much larger organization. And even though Sho himself had declared the 7th Division's disbandment, it only prompted the question as to how many other more powerful Claw elites were out there just biding their time?
Indeed, the final episode of "Mob Psycho 100" season 1 had set some stray pieces in motion in preparation for the second season. Reports have claimed that a second season has already been confirmed by Bones, Inc., the studio responsible for adapting the manga into TV. Season 2 may expand more on the capabilities of the organization, Claw, and the motivations behind their desire for world domination.
Other reports speculated that Mob and Claw's big boss, Touichirou, may not battle each other out until the third season, based on the current progress of the manga series.
"Mob Psycho 100" season 2 has yet to be announced officially.
