Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date news: laplet coming Q1 2017?

It looks like users will finally get their hands on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, the latest iteration of the Redmond giant's mega popular two-in-one device.

According to Digitimes, the tech company will start the year right with the release of the laplet. The launch is said to take place during the first quarter of the year.

It is believed that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will see the light of day around March, just in time for the release of the Windows 10 Creators Update, which includes a whole host of new features and tweaks.

Some of the features include Paint 3D and an expansive support for mixed-reality function, all of which should make the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 much better than its predecessor.

An early 2017 release for the device has been rumored for quite a while now as the laplet is said to take on Apple's iPad Pro 2 which is expected to drop during the first quarter of 2017 as well.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company Pegatron Technology will reportedly be in charge of the production of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, but the company is also allegedly looking to have Quanta Computer to help out too.

Digitimes did not have a lot to say about the specifications and features of the new Microsoft Surface Pro except that will have an ultra high-definition (HD) display and magnetic charging stylus.

Previous reports suggested that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be powered by the Intel Kaby Lake processor, which is miles better than its predecessor, the Skylake.

Kaby Lake performs 25 percent more than that the one before it, which is what the current-generation Surface Pro is using now. It should also boost the battery life while still effectively handling 4K resolution display.

A better battery life is something that owners of the Surface Pro 4 have been clamoring for and it looks like Microsoft is rectifying the battery issue with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
