Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date news: Launch date affected by further improvements and launch of processor from Intel
The release date for the Microsoft Surface Book 2 has been pushed farther back, and according to speculations, the delay may be caused by Microsoft's desire to improve the device further.
Rumors have it that tech giant Microsoft is working on upgraded editions not only of the Surface Book 2 but also of the Surface Pro 4, both of which were launched before 2015 ended. Between the two, the Surface Book 2 would have had an earlier launch date, but apparently, it was delayed as it now hinges on the release of the latest chipset from Intel.
The International Business Times reported that apart from speculations that it will have a costlier price tag, Intel's next generation Kaby Lake processor will power the Microsoft Surface Book 2. Since Intel hasn't officially announced the chipset yet, production for the Surface Book 2 stalled.
It is likewise speculated that the Surface Book 2 will undergo significant improvements to make it more powerful and to address previous issues it encountered such as frequent shutdowns, lackluster battery performance, overheating, and others. According to Yibada, the last thing Microsoft wants is for the latest iteration to be plagued by the same problems that hounded its predecessor.
There are rumors that the storage size of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will increase to 1 TB. Apparently, it will also have a 13.5-inch display, an improved version of the Surface Pen, and would be available in an Intel Core i7 variant. It will also be enhanced with Microsoft's developed technology, Pixel Sense, for the touch screen and will be integrated with the Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS.
University Herald said that since Intel's Kaby Lake may not be released until 2017, it would be safe to assume that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 would be released anytime that same year, too, perhaps before the first quarter of 2017 ends.
In the meantime, stay tuned for further details about Microsoft Surface Book 2's official release and other related news.
