Michael Schumacher Health, Family Latest News: Son Mick Ready to Follow Dad's Race Tracks, In New Test Run

The son of Formula One champion Michael Schumacher completed his test run on Wednesday in Germany's Formula Four.

Sixteen-year-old Mick Schumacher is hoping to follow the footsteps of his dad, who became a seven-time Formula One champion.

The elder Schumacher is currently recovering in Switzerland from head injuries he suffered while skiing in France in 2013, according to Reuters.

The young racecar driver will be competing in the Oschersleben circuit on April 25 and 26.

But Sabine Kehm, the manager of the father and son, said people should not set their expectations high on the performance of Mick.

"My message is to be realistic with expectations," Kehm told Reuters in Germany.

She said he has to learn more.

"This is Mick's very first year in a formula series. He has to learn a lot of new things and make a lot of new experiences because the difference between karting and formula cars is quite big," she said.

Kehm called on people to give Mick more time as he is just starting in his career.

"Give him time, don't over-react in terms of expectations and just have him go step by step. Of course he will try and do his very best but he also has to learn a lot. This is really just the start of it," she said.

The young Schumacher is competing for the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing team in the German Formula Four Series. He finished runner-up in the 2014 KF Junior Karting World and European Championship.

He is teaming up with 16-year-old Harrison Newey, son of Formula One car designer Adrian Newey.

The inaugural racing event will have 42 contestants and will be held at the Etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleban.

Other contestants in the race include Jonathan Cecotto, son of Johnny Cecotto, the former Formula 1 and DTM driver and former motorcycle world champion; Luca Engstler, son of former World Touring Car Championship contestant Franz Engstler; and Cedric Piro, son of former Formula Super V driver Erwin Piro.
