Memphis Grizzlies trade rumors: Could Gasol's time at Memphis be up?
Ever since his arrival in the NBA back in the 2008-09 season, Marc Gasol has been one of the leaders of the Memphis Grizzlies.
So far that's the only team he has played for and, despite talks of moving a few years back during his peak, Gasol sorted things out and stayed with the Grizzlies to grind out victories.
He has achieved moderate success with the team. Being one of the more consistent performers in the last few years, the Grizzlies were considered as a playoff team and their grinding style of play has become famous in the league.
All in the middle of that is Gasol, who is a steady rock alongside Zach Randolph.
However, as he is now nearing his 32nd birthday, Gasol has slowed down and his injuries have caught up with him.
He is now returning after a serious injury sidelined him for a long period of time. Now, many are wondering if he still has what it takes to carry Memphis on his broad shoulders.
There are talks that the Grizzlies may be eyeing a trade that could send Gasol to the Denver Nuggets in return for Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried.
The Nuggets players are younger and present a different skill set that may help the team, while Gasol is still one of the better big men who can contribute wherever he goes.
If that trade is true, then the Grizzlies will give up a player that averaged 14.3 points per game in his career along with 7.8 rebounds a night. Gasol averaged around 50 percent shooting throughout his career and his leadership is second to none.
He still has an active contract, one that extends up to the 2019-20 season and he is set to earn around $21 million in the coming year.
It remains to be seen if there is any truth to this rumor and if Gasol will play the new year with a new team.
